Bought this headlamp because of the red/white light combo and CR 123 Batteries. Unit failed after 3 hunting trips (2 weeks outside the Amazon return window) and Princeton Tec wont respond to warranty emails. Unit will turn on for a few minutes, turn off, and the battery is hot to touch after the unit turns off. Have used multiple Engergizer lithium CR123 batteries with the same result. I own multiple other Princeton Tec headlamps and they work well. This one is a lemon.

Great hunting and work light

Probably my favorite headlamp. Estimated times of battery usage seem to be on par. However the brightness settings may vary when using rechargeable batteries.
Standard CR123 batteries can give you the option of different brightness (both red and white light.) Yet rechargeable batteries you are stuck with the high brightness setting on both red and white light.
A small issue if you don’t like shelling out for batteries but it’s not a huge problem.
I especially love the fact that this headlamp will turn on red and you have to manually switch it to white light thus saving your night vision.
Other headlamps I’ve owned are reversed.
Overall I love it. Standard batteries or rechargeable.

After a few months of testing I will be looking for a better headlamp option. I work night shifts and require a headlamp every day. I am a huge fan of default red however my biggest complaint is battery life. I can only get about 2-3 nights of work done with one cr123 lithium battery. It seems like an inefficient product when I can run my streamlight handheld light off the same battery for months. The product is built well and the form factor would be ideal if not given the inefficient run time.
