Ordered these in Blu and Red and got them on the very same day I had a night hike scheduled, so used the provided batteries. We did 8 kilometers in 2.5 hours and the headlamps worked perfectly: comfortable, light weight and very, oh so very bright.

For the price I think they are great. One minor nitpick, and this is more of a user error really: I wish now I had looked for/ordered headlamps that also include red leds on the back, as these Petzl only have the (very bright) lamp on the front. That’s a personal preference after checking out some of the lamps other people used for the night hike, and not really a ding on the Petzl products (still, thought it might be an interesting detail for people looking into headlamps).

Nic and bright. Easy to use

    UPDATE KILLED BY KIRKLAND/DURACELL BATTERIES!!!

I was wearing this headlamp during a power outage, and heard and felt a pop in the light. When I opened it and looked at the batteries, ine had split along the seam and gray paste was oozing out.

I’ve bought a lot of headlamps over the last 20 years and this is my favorite.
It’s not the most powerful, but it’s plenty bright for your immediate area/workspace.

The light is diffused enough that close up it’s not just a hot spot that falls off rapidly, and the coverage/brightness is enough to give visibility around you in total darkness with the two higher output settings.

It has one button that cycles through three power settings- low to medium to high and off. There is no flash or red settings.

It uses 3 AAA batteries that should get you comfortably through two nights on the medium setting. I believe the packaging says you get 4 hours of battery life on the high setting. The low setting is good for close up work at arm’s distance.

The elastic strap IN THEORY can be removed for washing but it’s difficult to remove it from the light housing as the openings that the strap passes through are super tight.

The light itself is not waterproof, but only water resistant- which means it’s OK for light rain but not for really wet conditions.

Well built, good light quality and operation at around $20 makes this your go-to headlamp.

This does its job which is all one can hope for. The only thing they could improve is that the elastic strap loosens up very easily. But for its price it’s a great deal and that’s manageable as long as you can reach up to tighten it regularly. I do like how the light is adjustable up/down so you can aim it where you want without having to walk with your head bowed just to make sure you won’t trip on something.

This headlamp is one of the best that I have tried and quite arguably the best bargain for $20. I have tried many including Black Diamond spot, cosmo 225 and countless others from energizer and Petzl seems to have the best quality and also seems to be the most reliable brand in headlamps. First of all the beam quality is great. With Black Diamond spot there was an annoying yellow spot in the middle in the 2700k range, and the rest of the light was a cooler color, in the 5000k range. With this one there is a spot that tapers uniformly towards the sides with a consistent color temperature, likely in the 5000k range. This seems to be more useful since you are getting more spill and seems to be better for hiking and for use around campsite. If you want more beam distance you will have to consider the Petzl Actik, but it will cost twice as much as the Tikkina. One fact that is hardly ever talked about is the band quality. Petzl has really done a great job with the band quality. Not only is it moisture wicking but it is softer and of much better quality than Black Diamond headlamps that I have tried. Overall this headlamp provides plenty of light for hiking and other outdoor activities, it has great battery life and I would highly recommend it.

it is adjustable, good lighting and works

  7. Julio Chavez

Small. Lightweight. Super bright. Adjustable. I’ve used this little lamp out in the middle of the woods in complete darkness and it is perfect. The band adjusts to even the biggest of heads so you have your hands free and can illuminate directly in front of you to follow where your eyesight will be. Only bad thing is it uses 3 triple A batteries but it does last a long time. Id go a month or two without replacing the batteries and id constantly use it.

  8. Don

Brought this for a Christmas gift for my nephew who started cub scouts. They are doing camping trips and this works great. He loves it.

This purchase exactly replace a lost light. These are very good lights.

Very nice headlamp works really well even in cold weather and the price was decent
