Like the long battery life, every stat you could possibly need or want.

Outstanding watch for running. Very easy to use. My only negative is that the music app is difficult to use and download music.

Bought this to replace my Whoop but ended up returning it after a few hours.
Heart rate was wildly inaccurate compared to a chest strap, not a few BPM either. Watch was showing 90bpm, HR strap at 143bpm while at an effort on bike.
Could almost watch the battery levels drop with screen on low setting, WiFi off, and no external sensors attached.
Not a budget watch so I had much higher expectations. Returned promptly and went back to the Whoop for another year.
If you want accuracy look elsewhere.

Really enjoyed all the features on the forerunner 265. Lots of data to monitor many stats for your running and other health information. Menus easy to navigate. Displays bright and easy to see and read.

I bought this to upgrade from my older Forerunner 235. The screen looks amazing. Has alot of great features and I really enjoy the music feature. I play my music through the watch so now when I am running I will get my cues for intervals audibly.

The watch is very expensive, but basically perfect for its intended use.
1. The stated battery times are accurate, even with the OLED screen on all the time. Charging every few days or so is very reasonable. I don’t worry at all about the always on (ultra dimmed) display during normal use or the gps/music drain during longer runs.
2. The Garmin connect software is super solid. It’s nice to pay for an extensive companion app up front instead of being nickel and dimed for subscription fees later.
3. The watch syncs effortlessly with Garmin connect, which in turn syncs effortlessly with Strava and Runna. Once everything’s set up, it just works. If you don’t need a marathon training plan like Runna, Garmin has built in plans for 5k, 10k a d 13.1 mi.
4. The OLED screen is bright and easy to read in direct sunlight. Is it worth an upgrade from the 255? Idk. Was the 265 worth buying new (didn’t have a previous watch) at a $50 premium over the 255 Music, definitely.
Very happy so far. It’s liberating not carrying around my phone for running any more.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Apple products. I have been using the iPhone since iPhone three and iPad 2 came out, upgrading them yearly. However, Apple Watch sucks! I replace my Apple Watch Series 7 with this and never look back. It is very accurate to measure the distance, the steps, the strides, and heartbeats. If you are a serious runner, you will love this. The battery also lasts for a long time. I use it to track my performance and to improve my time running, swimming, and biking, getting ready for my triathlon. I regret spending money on Apple Watch Series 5, 6, and 7.

More than a decade ago I bought a Garmin 910XT to monitor my running progress, and it service me well. After a period of inactivity, I returned to running but alas, my 910 wasn’t up to he task anymore. Buttons had disintegrated. But…it still held a charge and worked enough until I could get a new one. For some reason, I didn’t buy a newer Garmin. I bought a Polar instead, specifically a Pacer Pro. I won’t go into the gory details here; my review of that monumental piece of tech crap can be found elsewhere on this site. So, I came back to Garmin with this one, and I’m never looking back.
The display is bright, customizable, and beautiful. It interfaces perfectly with my (non-Garmin) heart rate chest strap via ANT+. When not using that, the wrist-based HR is accurate. And the data…oh, the data. Every possible thing you could want to know about your running performance, and the state of your recovery, you’ll find here. Pair it with a Garmin Connect app account, and you’ll be swimming in more data about your body that you can handle. Customize the watch, create your own workouts, and see it all on the bright display.
About the only thing I don’t like is the limited number of band/watch color combos. That’s easily rectified by searching for this model band. Third party offerings are inexpensive and switch out easily.
I look forward to putting this watch through its paces for years to come. I love it. If I stop loving it, I’ll update this review.
