I have had other Camel Backs but this one has tipped the scale for success. Super Light, Breathes quite well and simply said, it is just comfortable especially for those long gravel bike races where you are being pounded throughout the race. It stays close to your back and does not bounce around. The drinking tube is easy to use and does not require a lot of suction to consume the fluid. The tube clip keeps the hose right where you want it so you do not have to search for its location. It is easy to disassemble and clean. I am a great fan. Buy it and you won’t go wrong…

I wanted to start doing longer bike rides, but was running into a problem about making sure I have the water I needed. The best solution I came to was to use a water bladder type system, but I was worried about how bulky or heavy these would be. But, the CamelBak Rouge is a fantastic balance between having adequate liquid storage and light weight, with the added bonus of ample cargo space.
I’ve now used it for a century ride and rides of a comparable but shorter distance and it has help up well. It has two zip up pockets (one on the inside of the bladder pocket that I haven’t used yet), where I store keys, credit cards, etc. And then there is an open elastic pocket that can hold a whole bunch of stuff. On my last ride I brought ~6 energy gels, replacement sunscreen, a light for when it got dark, change of lenses, and a bit a tiger balm with still space to spare.
My only complaint is that it is a little bit tight around the shoulders, but I probably just need to find the right strap adjustment for me. But beyond that, it fits me quite well and it quite snug (which honestly I like something like this to be so it isn’t moving around very much while I’m moving). To comment on other reviews about the size, I’m around 5’11” 170lbs with a pretty slim build to give an idea of how I can fit.
Update after about 10 months of use: Everything is still holding up fantastically. I use it on long rides almost every weekend.

Can’t wait for my boyfriend to use this on his bike rides! Also perfect for festivals, concerts, and hikes! It adjusts to any size and easy to drink water out of and even has a small storage compartment !

It was time for an addition to our camelback arsenal for hiking and concerts and this one was perfect for my boyfriend as it has a large bladder to hold a lot of water while keeping a sleek profile. The additional outside pocket makes it easy to carry extra layers or snacks while out and about. One of the best things about this is that the bag itself is lightweight and is comfortable to wear even when filled.

Everything is perfect on this hydration pack for me and is more functional than I ever thought out would be.
I need to cut the extra of the straps so I don’t have to wind them around and touch them in. I don’t like them flying around hitting me which I can fix. But when I get really aero on my bike, the pack wants to creep up my back to my neck/helmet area… something I don’t think I can fix.
Other than that this pack is amazing and works really well in my longer 60-100 mile rides!

Muito útil e fácil utilização

This is my 1st CamelBak so my review is for those that are thinking about purchasing a hydration pack for the first time.
I run, walk, and hike. I usually carry my iPhone, magnetic wallet (for iPhone), keys and a 22oz bottle of water. I live in a hot city and wanted to carry more water and have my hands free. Also my very expensive phone has come close to come flying out of my pocket and more than one ocassion plus the weight of the phone bouncing around gets uncomfortable when I jog or pick up the pace.
This unit is perfect considering I did not want to have to buy 2 different types of CamelBaks. You have an open pocket that goes all the way across (more on this below). You can pack a light rain jacket in there and the unit also has a zippered compartment where I store the phone, wallet, and keys. I could store 2 protein bars, small bottle of sunscreen, and some other small item if I wanted to.
If this is your first time with a CamelBak make sure that you try it on at home, figure out how the bladder/hose works and adjust the fit with the included straps. You will have to fiddle a bit with the straps to get the best fit for your body. The 70 oz. capacity is plenty and the bladder has a handle that allows you to fill it up completely and easily. I filled up about 20 oz plus large ice cubes and a hydration table and it worked great. The water is a bit warmer than in a frozen water bottle because the water you take in is actually on the hose but this is minor. The hose is attached to the right shoulder strap using a clip. I like it there and I assume you can move that clip to have the hose on your left side but I have no tried as I like on the right. Sipping from the hose takes a few tries to get used to because you have to bite the tip for the water to come out. This is very ingenious because it prevents taking in too much water.
The bladder is easy to clean. You can take it out of the pack and rinse with water and baking soda or buy the cleaning tablets made by CamelBak. You can dry it with a kitchen/paper towel or let it hang somewhere. I think CamelBak makes a special hanger for it which is a little more convenient but not really necessary.
TIP: There is blue flapping loop piece that is part of the cap. It may separate from the cap while cleaning the bladder. You must insert it underneath the cap before you try to close the cap. Don’t put this piece around the hole and put the cap on top or your unit will leak if you need to bend over for some reason as I found out while stretching afterwards.
The unit is very light so you are not likely to feel any back pain and also breathes well.
I can carry a small towel to wipe my face in the open pocket. You can easily lift up the CamelBak with one hand and put the towel back in the pocket with the other hand when done without stopping or taking off the pack. How cool is that?
A few things to consider:
– I’m small … 5’9″ 168 lbs. If you are over 5-11 or a heavy set person this pack may be too small to fit you. The chest strap may not adjust enough.
– You need to wear a shirt….I don’t recommend wearing this without one because the straps will likely cause chafing
– If you are going to be doing activities that go beyond half day then you may want to consider a unit with more water storage capacity
– The zippered pocket cannot be accessed while you are wearing this. Not a problem for me given that there is no bluetooth interference between my iPhone and my Power Beats Pro earbuds. I can listen to music/podcasts, control playback, make/receive calls through voice commands totally hands free. If you like to constantly use your phone while doing your routine then this pack may not be for you. You may need to get a phone pouch that can be attached to the straps in the front or a different pack.
I can’t talk about durability but it seems well made and CamelBak invented this product category so I don’t expect any problems there.
Good luck
