I’m a runner who likes the tail light this headlamp provides. However after just moderate use for a month the headlamp no longer brightens and is stuck on the dimmest setting making it worthless for being able to see terrain.

When I lived in a mountainous coastal area I used to go on runs at dusk after I clocked out of work. I would always get caught in the mountains at night. One day I came across a drunk dude and helped him back to safety. But then I saw a news report about how apparently there was some roaming rapist with a gun. So I thought maybe I should have a bright light with me, and also chirping on rocks in tree roots when you’re running in pitch black darkness in a mountain at night is not fun. Also what’s that noise in the bush over there? Is it a puma waiting to get me? Well now with this bright light:
    * people can’t look at me at night because of the physical pain of the light shining in their eyes
    * I can see the sclera of mountain lions staring me down just before they leap and make me their meal
    * I stopped tripping on rocks and tree branches
If you run in mountains at night I 500% recommend buying this or some other headlamp.
Now I run mostly in the streets, and one of my favorite features about this particular headlamp is that it has a blinking LED on the back of your head. This means that cars are more likely to not run you over when they come up from behind you
Also the battery lasts for several hours so you don’t even need to charge it every run
All in all this headlamp is great I’m glad I bought it

Fits nice but not bright at all. My oldest light was awesome which is why I got these again. Weak light and needs to be charged a lot. I expected more from black diamond. Total disappointment.

Absolute best headlamp I’ve owned and comfortable for running!

This is the best headlamp for runners on the market that I’ve found. This is my third version of it, and this one is significantly brighter than the previous version. Not sure why someone said it was less bright…I pulled them both out and compared in a dark room and it was no comparison.

Lots to like about this headlamp if it worked reliably. In order to charge the battery I learned I needed to remove it, wait ten seconds, then reinsert. I used it daily for one hour runs. Worked fine (less the battery issue) for a few weeks, then it began arbitrarily shutting down mid run (leaving me stranded in dark woods). Fully charged battery and even back up standard batteries and no combination of button pressing could bring the thing to life. Company needs to refine this thing. Stranded in the dark on trails three times with every type of trouble shooting imaginable = total fail of a product.

Failed after about 10 uses over 11 months. Even in early uses, it would automatically dim after about 30 minutes, maybe to automatically preserve batter.

It should have been a great product, but it was certainly not worth $80.

This is the 2nd Black Diamond Sprinter headlamp that I have purchased and have been extremely pleased with them. The first one – I have owned it for 4 years, used it anywhere between 5-12hrs a week every week, and it held a very good charge and both lights (front and back) stayed bright throughout its entire life. I used it mostly for running, but also hiking, camping, and endurance events. The only reason why I had to replace it with this 2nd one is because I lost it. SMH. One gripe with the first one is the plastic where the top strap attached to the back light broke. I gorilla glued it back in place and all was well. These hold up well to various physical activity, are waterproof, and are VERY easy to use – the one-tough quick brightness adjust is great while you are on the move. I have used these on trails and have had no issue differentiating between rocks, roots, etc, on the ground that others have complained about (due to ‘blue’ light wavelength in the headlamp). These can easily be used without the top strap if you want to wear them over a cap or whatever, for the top strap is removable. It is nice to have the red lights in the back, especially if you run on/near roads. The more lighting back there the better. Overall I have felt these are great value and the battery/lamps last a LONG time.
