Order not delivered on date expected. Track your order worthless as it states there’s ” no information available” . All Amazon ” help” areas instruct user to the Track Your Order site. Beyond frustrated.

I thought that I didn’t want rechargeable so I could instantly be back to full power by just swapping batteries, but since I use this mostly for work and walking the dog at night I was getting tired of swapping batteries all the time. Being able to just charge at night and use it the next day is great.

At first use, this seemed like a great headlamp. Easy brightness adjustment, very bright on full, red light is great for buggy conditions, long battery life. But unfortunately it has one serious flaw. When you turn the light off, the little blue battery status / charging lights on the side stay on for 4-5 seconds. This “feature” is a scourge for nighttime wildlife watching. For example, say I’m trying to call up owls. If I have my headlamp on (say, I’m fiddling with recording equipment) and one calls nearby, I need my light off NOW, not 5 seconds from now. Those faint blue lights make you highly visible to an animal with night vision, perhaps even more so that the normal bright headlamp, which may reduce their night vision temporarily. This is a problem with most nocturnal mammals or birds: that five seconds of faint light (bright to them) tips them off exactly where you are, just when you are trying not to be seen. Now I have to stick a piece of duct tape over the charging lights on my expensive new headlamp—and take if off whenever I charge it. Not an issue for everyone, of course, but a big deal for me. And, I would suspect, any biologist who works at night. If that describes you, don’t buy this headlamp.

East y to charge. Control buttons better than average.

Very nice. Compact & lightweight. Unfortunately it uses the aging micro-USB connector for recharging. Instead of the current USB-C. Which will definitely become more & more annoying over the next couple years. But it’s not a huge deal.
Operation is familiar to previous Black Diamond headlamps, but this one has 3 buttons (a “soft” button on the side). I say it’s familiar because you hold down the main button to dim/undim the light, double-click to strobe, etc. The 2nd top button cycles thru the 3 LEDs (the white spot LED, the red LED, and then there’s a 2nd white LED for pointing down at your feet which can used be separately or jointly with the main spot LED). The instructions sheet is fantastic with lots of pictures.
You may forget about the side “soft button” if you don’t use the headlamp fairly often. Its main purpose is to quickly switch to max brightness (with both white LEDs active). It’s not an obvious button, but is plenty sensitive which is good. Thankfully you can also get max brightness by holding down the main top button.
Right before it starts dimming, it first goes full brightness so you can leave it there. …in other words, you don’t need to carry the instruction sheet with you to remember how to operate this thing.
I have no comment on its durability because I haven’t used it much. But I’m assuming it’s durable.

I attached this light to a hard hat and it works very well. Battery lasts a long time and there are lots of different light levels to accommodate different needs. Very happy with this product so far.
