I like that I can time a lot of kids at once. Times are easy to review.

I hate this thing! It makes me so angry. First of all, recalling the splits is not an obvious thing. And then, when you figure it out, it recalls them backwards! I don’t know who wants to know their splits in backwards order but it is not me!

I use to time my student-athletes. It does everything that I need.

Works great! Don’t have to hit reset just keep pressing for new time.

I am using this successfully to get finishing times for six swimmers during timed events during practice. Once I watched the YouTube Video, I understood how to use the watch. Love it.

I often have three or 4 different workout groups going on at the same time and I have two of the older model 740MX watches and two of the newest AX740’s to help me manage it all. What I like best about this watch is that after hitting the split button which I do at the beginning of every repeat in a set, I can hit the release button and the watch will show BOTH the Total Running Time AND the running repeat time. So if I am running a set of 100’s on 1:20 I hit the split button at every 1:20, then hit the release button, it shows me the running repeat time so that I can eyeball the splits during the repeat and I can shout out times as they are coming in. It also shows the number of repeats so that I never lose count of the number of repeats. So with multiple groups and multiple watches it really helps me stay organized and allows me to give better feedback to the swimmers. I have had the two 740MX’s for 10 years now and have used them nearly every day and often twice a day. Recently one or the other will blank out occassionally so I have purchased the newer AX740. I am not mentioning the blanking out as a problem but more of a testament that they have lasted this long under heavy use.
These are also wonderful watches for swim meets especially when you have the luxury of one watch per swimmer. Hit the split, write it down (or let the memory save it for later), hit release and see the total running time as well as the split running time.
If there is one drawback to this watch, it’s that reset is made by holding down the start button for 2 seconds — which seems like forever when you are trying to run a bunch of individuals doing one at a time 25’s and you want to get ready for the next swimmer NOW. The older versions had a similar reset but it was about 1.3 seconds, the newer AX740 is a full 2 seconds. Sometimes I think my older watches are beginning to fail because I hold down the split button as hard as I can wishfulling thinking that it will speed up the reset. A light touch does the same and may lead to a longer life of the watch.

Perfect for split timing when I’m curling. My only gripe is that I would like it to store the last 50 splits – not the 1st 50 splits.

Does the job! Had to watch a YouTube video to use all functions as there no instructions on how to review lap times.
